THE ROY F. AND JOANN COLE MITTE FOUNDATION ~ HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL BUILDS

In effort to meet our goals of helping students to become socially responsible citizens, leaders within their communities, and world ambassadors, the Mitte Foundation began working with Habitat for Humanity in 2002 to send teams of students and local community leaders to conduct seven to ten day builds in an international setting.  It was our hope that these builds would not only offer unique and meaningful volunteer opportunities for both our scholarship recipients, scholarship alumni, and community leaders, but through brief tours of the areas would allow them an educational experience and a chance to interact and build relationships with people from other countries and communities. The Mitte Foundation offered such opportunity to Mitte scholars and community leaders through participation in four builds:

  • The Jimmy Carter Work Project in Africa, 2002
  • The Jimmy Carter Work Project in Veracruz, Mexico, 2004
  • The Global Village Program in Pitesti, Romania, 2006
  • The Global Village Program inPorirua, New Zealand, 2007

The Mitte Foundation is not currently planning to participate in a build opportunity.  If you are interested in joining a build, please see Habitat for Humanity to find your local affiliate and learn more.
